Frequently Asked Questions

I have never ridden an E-Bike. What do I need to know?

Until the assist is turned on, our e-Bikes operate exactly the same as a non eBike! You have brakes, gears, and pedals. Once the assist is enabled, you can choose a level of assist that enables you to overcome hills or windy conditions without over-exertion!

We provide safety and riding instructions before you leave, so that you are comfortable with the bike and its controls and have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Helmets are mandatory and required by law.

What is the range of a fully charged e-bike?

The range can be up to 45 Km, sometimes more depending on the riders weight, terrain, wind conditions and riding style.

How fast can e-bikes go?

Most electric bikes will provide you with assist up to 32 km/h.

How do I pay?

For online bookings (recommended), you must pay with a credit card. Bookings made without payment cannot be guaranteed. A security deposit is required at time of pickup – this is best done by credit card pre-authorization, which we release when the equipment is returned undamaged.

For walk-up rentals, you may pay by credit card or debit card, but be aware that if paying by debit then the security deposit will come out of your bank account and must then be refunded when the equipment is returned undamaged.

We cannot accept cash for rental or damage deposits.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

Yes, it is the law. We can provide a helmet, but if you have your own, we strongly encourage you to bring it. Bicycle rental rates include a helmet and lock.

Are there any restrictions for riders?

Before riding, you must listen to the safety & riding instructions. You also must read & sign a liability waiver. There is minimum of 16 years of age to ride on your own and a 300lb weight limit for all e-Bikes. You cannot ride if you are intoxicated. Helmets should be worn and always follow traffic laws, regulations and be safe. If parking the E-Bike, you MUST lock it up with provided lock set.

Where can we go?

Unless you have a way to charge your battery, we recommend that you stay within 15 30km or so, within the trails marked on our website and signage, within and close to the rental site. Also check out the Confederation Trail or islandtrails.ca/trails

We do not currently allow bikes to be transported to other areas. Bikes are well-suited to local conditions, and we need to be able to respond should you need assistance for any reason.
